Memorial Park

Memorial Park has been mentioned in several blogs so I thought I'd start a new posting under this heading.

Adam asked about having a summer music festival in Memorial Park. I think it would be a great idea and will be glad to work with Adam and recreation department Director, Herb Dolloway, to make it happen. I'm waiting to hear from Adam as to what specifically he has in mind.

Ryan asked about starting a flag football league and playing games at Memorial Park. This shouldn't be a problem and Ryan should call Herb Dolloway at 261-3275 to work out the details.

Ryan,
I'm also interested in the idea of a Flag Football league. I believe they already have something similar for kids.

It would great to have one for adults. I was involved in one in the military and it was great.

We even had a charity game where we sought food donations (canned goods) from the community as a entry fee for the charity game.

Maybe, the "DOME" the school district owns would be a good venue for the a championship or a charity game.

I'd even be interested in helping!

I think that having a Summer Music Festival at Memorial Park would be a great idea. If it were set up over several days or a week, it could attract a decent crowd to the area during the summer. Different types of music could be arranged on diffent days. This would allow for different walks of life to be involved in the community. IE: a modern pop music day, an R&B day, a Classic Rock day, a Historical Music (Midevel/Rennisance/Civil War Era)day, ETC....

If vendors were allowed to set up in an area near the stage, it would bring in an even larger crowd. On certain days a small car show could be set up with it. Such as a Classic Car Show during the Classic Rock Day.

Think of the revenue it could bring in for the Borough. It would likely result in some initial costs, but has the potential to bring a large amount of tourism in. I think the largest issue would be crowd control issues for the Police and Fire Department.

It's worth looking into.

Dear mayor,

Sorry i haven't been able to contact you yet! I was just promoted at my job and that has taken up a large amount of time but it's settling down for me!

I have been talking and working with the rec department at the rec center, and I do plan to talk to them some more tomorrow!

When would be a good time to call the number you gave?

Sincerely

Regarding parks: Would it be feasible to have the Boro's street sweepers take a run on the paved rail-trail through town? I've been riding it lately with my neighborhood kids and have noticed a lot of broken glass on the trail.

I talked to Herb Dollaway and he assured me that a crew will be walking the trail early next week to clean it and spruce it up for Spring.
